Stones: 3 x natural old cut rubies, 0.33ct TCW. 2 x natural rose cut diamonds, 2.5mm diameter each.
Condition: Lovely antique condition with light wear commensurate with age. All stones secure in their settings. This ring has been resized larger in the past, prior to coming to us. The previous upsize is well done but has given the lower shank a slightly expanded/rounded shape at the base. This does not affect wear or any future resizing.

We love the contrast in this ring - the rich pinkish-red glow of the rubies against the gentle shimmer of the rose cut diamonds, all nestled within a carved gold setting full of character from every angle. It has that romantic antique feeling while remaining easy and enjoyable to wear.
This piece is marked J.M.W, the maker's mark of Joachim Matthias Wendt (1830–1917). Wendt established Wendt Jewellers in South Australia in 1854 and became one of Australia's most celebrated nineteenth century jewellers. Over the course of his career he created exceptional pieces for exhibitions, prominent Australians and even royalty. Today, examples of his work are held in major collections including the National Gallery of Australia and the Powerhouse Museum.
This is a lovely piece for someone who wants colour, sparkle and history in one ring. A little bolder than a plain diamond band, yet still highly wearable and easy to style with other gold jewellery.

How do you authenticate your pieces?
We carefully assess every piece using our gemmological training, specialist tools, and industry experience. We are both GIA Graduate Gemmologists and have also completed the Applied Jewelry Professional (AJP) qualification.
We work closely with our jeweller, who has almost 50 years of experience and is also a qualified gemmologist.
Carat weights are estimates based on measurements taken in the setting unless otherwise stated. Precise weights can only be obtained from loose stones. Many of our diamonds are old cuts, which are often asymmetrical and not calibrated due to traditional hand-cutting techniques.
We aim to provide clear photos and videos from multiple angles to help you purchase with confidence.
Do US customers have to pay tariffs or duties?
No - for United States customers, the price shown includes insured DHL Express shipping and import duties/tariffs.
This means there should be no separate DHL bill for these charges on delivery. We always ship at full declared value so your parcel stays compliant, secure, and fully insured.
