Frequently asked questions
FAQs
Who are you, and what can I expect from your jewellery?
We’re Thao and Geoff (GIA Graduate Gemologists) and we run Goldbrick Jewels, an online jewellery business specialising in antique, vintage, and handmade pieces. You can learn more about us and our story on our About Us page.
Because many of our pieces are decades (or over a century!) old, gentle wear consistent with age is to be expected. Any notable condition issues we’re aware of (such as chips to stones or dents to gold) are always clearly disclosed and shown in photos.
We believe in openness, accuracy, and helping you make an informed decision before purchasing.
How do you authenticate your pieces?
We carefully assess every piece using our gemmological training, specialist tools, and industry experience. We are both GIA Graduate Gemologists (GG) and have also completed the Applied Jewelry Professional (AJP) qualification.
We work closely with our jeweller, who has almost 50 years of experience and is also a qualified gemmologist.
Carat weights are estimates based on measurements taken in the setting unless otherwise stated. Precise weights can only be obtained from loose stones. Many of our diamonds are old cuts, which are often asymmetrical and not calibrated due to traditional hand-cutting techniques.
We aim to provide clear photos and videos from multiple angles to help you purchase with confidence.
Can I ask questions or request more information before buying?
Absolutely. If you’d like additional details, measurements, or clarification before purchasing, please feel free to get in touch. We’re always happy to help you make an informed decision.
Are your pieces cleaned or serviced?
Yes. All of our pieces are carefully cleaned and checked before they’re listed, so you receive them in their best possible condition.
Where appropriate, our jeweller ensures settings are secure and stones are safe to wear. When an item is listed, it is ready to wear and ready to ship.
Any notable details about a piece are always clearly disclosed in the listing.
When will my order arrive?
Orders are dispatched promptly once full payment has been received. Delivery typically takes 2-10 business days, depending on your location.
If you’d like an estimated delivery timeframe for your country, please feel free to get in touch.
What if there’s an issue with my order?
We take great care to accurately describe and photograph every piece. If there is a major pre-existing issue that was not disclosed or visible in the listing, please contact us as soon as possible after receiving your parcel (within 5 days). We’re always happy to help resolve genuine issues fairly.
Please note that we do not accept returns for change of mind, and we’re unable to take responsibility for normal wear, third-party alterations, or damage that occurs after delivery.
Do US customers have to pay tariffs or duties?
No - for United States customers, the price shown includes insured DHL Express or Australia Post shipping and import duties/tariffs.
This means there should be no separate bill for these charges on delivery. We always ship at full declared value so your parcel stays compliant, secure, and fully insured.
Do you offer layaway or payment plans?
Layaway may be available by approval on selected pieces, we’re always happy to discuss. Please get in touch to enquire via our Contact Us form or via Instagram.
PayPal Pay in 4 is also available at checkout (subject to eligibility), which allows you to pay in instalments to PayPal while we send your piece out right away.
Do you offer ring resizing?
Yes! We’re happy to help you get the perfect fit. Please contact us to discuss ring sizing options, we're happy to provide no obligation quotes for resizing.
Our jeweller takes great care to keep the finish seamless and preserve original details and hallmarks where possible.
You can read more about ring resizing and common myths in our blog post.
Can you hold an item for me?
Yes - we can place a 24 hour hold with a small deposit. Our hold deposit is 10% of the item price (minimum $50 AUD), and it is credited towards your purchase when you complete checkout.
If you decide not to go ahead, or if the 24 hour hold expires, the deposit will be released.
Do you have a physical store or offer in-person viewings?
We’re an online-only business and do not have a physical store. We're always happy to answer questions, provide additional photos or videos where possible, and help you shop confidently online.
We are currently able to offer in-person viewings in Melbourne (inner north) with a 10% hold deposit. Get in touch with us here.
