FAQs

What is the Goldbrick Jewels philosophy?

We love jewellery and we're passionate about getting beautiful pieces into great new homes. We wouldn't sell you anything we wouldn't want in our collection. Pieces may have wear in keeping with their age, as we only sell antique and vintage pieces. Any other condition notes that we know of (for example, chips to stones or dents to gold) will be communicated openly. We love what we do and have both completed the GIA GD (Graduate Diamonds) qualification. We are working towards GG (Graduate Gemologist).

How do you authenticate your pieces?

We buy jewellery from reputable sources and do our research. We use the hallmarks/stamps on our pieces along with any other information we receive to put together our descriptions.

We also work with our jeweller (who has 40+ years of experience and is a qualified gemmologist) to provide further details regarding gemstones (size, clarity, type etc) when needed and test the purity of gold where required.

All carat weights given (unless specified otherwise) are estimates based on measurements taken in the setting. Precise measurements can only be given on stones that are loose and can be weighed separately. The majority of diamonds that we stock are old cuts which means that they are often asymmetrical and not calibrated (due to traditional hand cutting techniques). Formulas used for estimating carat weight are designed for modern round brilliant diamond proportions. We conservatively estimate old cut diamond carat weight, but it’s not unusual for there to be extra diamond weight under the setting (for example, an extra deep pavilion). This is part of the charm of old cut diamonds, but makes it difficult to give precise carat weights.

We aim to provide photos/videos from different angles to help you make an informed decision. Feel free to reach out to us any time if you have any questions about a piece, or would like more photos/videos.

Do you offer ring resizing?

We sure do! We want to make the purchase of antique and vintage jewellery as easy and fun for you as possible, and making sure a piece is the perfect size for you is important to us. Please get in touch and we'd be happy to help with getting a ring resized. This costs $50 AUD, plus any additional material costs if sizing up.

For more information on ring resizing and our take on some myths in this space, check out our blog post here.

Do you offer layaway?

We're happy to offer a layaway (also known as layby) service (on orders over $500 AUD) to help make your jewellery dreams come true with payments over time. Please refer to our layaway policy page for more information.

Did you know that we also offer PayPal Pay in 4? With this payment option, you'll pay instalments to PayPal, and we are able to send your new piece out to you right away.

Do you hold items?

We offer holds at our discretion. Please get in touch and we'll do our best to help.

Do you allow returns?

If you'd like to return your order due to a pre-existing major problem which was not disclosed or shown in photos, please get in touch with us as soon as possible. We're always happy to do our best to help. We do not accept responsibility for wear and tear or other damage to pieces after delivery, and do not accept returns for change of mind.

When will my order arrive?

Items are dispatched promptly upon receipt of full payment. Delivery may take between 2 and 25 business days, depending on your geographical location. Please contact us if you would like to discuss estimated delivery times for your country.

Do you have a physical store?

We're an online only business and do not have a physical store. We provide detailed product descriptions for each of our pieces and are happy to answer any questions.

Is there a way to see pieces in person?

We do not have a physical store and are unable to offer in-person consultations.

However, we do live streams via Instagram Live every two weeks - this is a great opportunity to spend time with us and our collection, and ask any questions you may have to get an answer in real time. We are able to do live try ons and different combinations in order for you to see a piece from every angle. Our Instagram Lives are known for being a fun, friendly and safe space to chat all things jewels - you may even be able to take home a piece at a spicy price!
