We are so thrilled to be able to offer this rare piece - we've never had this type of ring in stock before! Called a 'poison ring' due to its hinged secret compartment, which held (as the name suggests) poison historically, it was also popular to store other small trinkets, sentimental items, small portraits or perfume. It's a beautiful piece that would look good on any hand, featuring a clean silhouette with blue enamel detail (the enamel is in stunning condition considering the piece's age!) bordering the face of the ring. Adding to the allure of this piece are the clear Australian marks for Aronson & Co of Melbourne - we always love seeing antique Melbourne Manufacturing Jewellers Association marks! A beautiful, collectible rarity with so many amazing things going for it.

Condition: Beautiful antique condition. The ring's compartment opens and closes securely and there are no issues with the hinge. Enamel is in fantastic condition with no losses. Patina and scratches commensurate with age.

How do you authenticate your pieces?
We carefully assess every piece using our gemmological training, specialist tools, and industry experience. We are both studying toward the Graduate Gemmologist (GG) qualification with GIA (Gemological Institute of America) and have completed the Applied Jewelry Professional (AJP) and Graduate Diamonds (GD) qualifications.
We also work closely with our jeweller, who has almost 50 years of experience and is a qualified gemmologist.
Carat weights are estimates based on measurements taken in the setting unless otherwise stated. Precise weights can only be obtained from loose stones. Many of our diamonds are old cuts, which are often asymmetrical and not calibrated due to traditional hand-cutting techniques.
