Every jewellery reference in The Simpsons
The Simpsons has given us endless laughs over the years - but did you know it’s also a treasure trove of jewellery references? There's a Simpsons quote for everything, and it turns out their hilarious, unique window to the world also showcases jewellery as objects of sentimental value, tools of negotiation, and symbols of status and beauty. We went down a Simpsons rabbit hole and rounded up as many jewellery references as we could find. Some of them might surprise you!

The Frying Game: Season 13, Episode 21 In this episode, Homer and Marge are framed for a murder/robbery with this rather fetching diamond necklace at the heart of the crime. What a piece - it looks like it's covered in graduating diamond drops almost all the way around, making it a truly valuable (and we imagine super sparkly!) piece. |

Milhouse Doesn't Live Here Anymore: Season 15, Episode 12 Nope. Diamondelle? Nope. Cubic Diamondium? Nope. Dioxy-ribo-diamondoid? Close, but no cigar. Just plain diamonds." Diamonds are a girl's best friend, and Marge is thrilled to be gifted gorgeous diamond drop earrings from Homer: "Diamonds! I still can't believe he gave me diamonds!" They look like stunning briolette cut diamonds to us! Unfortunately he didn't obtain them in the classiest way, but...it's the thought that counts, right? Right? As Marge later says to him: "To remind you of what you've done, I'm going to keep these earrings and wear them at social occasions!" |

Bart Gets Hit by a Car: Season 2, Episode 10 A lil gift from our favourite dodgy lawyer, Mr Lionel Hutz. We wonder what kind of pearl simulant is in play here - plastic? Glass? Ceramic? |

Summer of 4 Ft. 2: Season 7, Episode 25 Oh cool, thanks. Hey, cinnamon dental floss!" The sweetest proof that jewellery doesn't always need to be made of precious materials to be precious. Jewellery has been made throughout history out of materials that may seem unconventional, from human teeth and hair to Whitby jet (fossilised wood from around Whitby, England) to sea glass. |

Krusty Gets Kancelled: Season 4, Episode 22 The kind of very specific excess that we can get behind. We haven't come across anything like this in our sourcing before, but would certainly consider it if we did! It might not be too much of a stretch considering some of the amazing and strange pieces we've encountered before, including this solid gold allergy medallion and even this crocodile eating a person charm. So many things were made with gold and gemstones back in the day that would never be made now! |

Dog of Death: Season 3, Episode 19 Look closer, Lenny. Oh, I know what it is…you're the biggest man in the world now and you're covered in gold. 14 carat gold!" One of the funniest scenes ever, especially later when Gold Homer is completely covered in jewels and a crown - we made an Instagram reel using this laughing scene! |
C.E.D'oh: Season 14, Episode 15 Amazing visual gag and a nice array of possible gemstones there - we're thinking rubies, amethyst, sapphire, emerald, diamond? Not to mention all of that gold, wow! We're thinking high carat gold, which you can read about in our blog post here. |

Principal Charming: Season 2, Episode 14 It's the second most precious jewel in this bell tower." You'd be forgiven for forgetting that Principal Skinner and Selma Bouvier were together for a brief period in time, all the way back in 1991. He did a great job with this classic diamond solitaire ring - it's definitely huge, and with gorgeous rainbow flashes and generous crown/pavilion proportions. Perhaps wishful thinking, but we imagine it being a massive old cut diamond! It reminds us of this beautiful 0.98ct old mine cut diamond ring we sold in the past. If you're new to old cut diamonds, check out our blog post intro to them here. |

Simpson Tide: Season 9, Episode 19 "Hello everybody! Sparkle, sparkle." Milhouse gets an earring, Bart gets an earring - peer pressure/FOMO at its finest. We love the classic style picks here, with Milhouse's gold hoop and Bart's diamond (or more likely cubic zirconia - sorry Bart!) stud. The quote "Sparkle, sparkle" gets a lot of usage at GBJ! |

I Married Marge: Season 3, Episode 12 Early Simpsons has so much heart, and this scene is a lovely example of Homer and Marge's unbreakable bond - it also makes us crave onion rings every time! If you're curious about or thinking about engagement rings, check out our blog post about them here. |
Large Marge: Season 14, Episode 4 Huh? Oh, right. Can you hold it? This is a Band-Aid wrapped in tinfoil. My real ring's inside a turtle." You can really see the construction method in the screenshot, and it's too funny - goes without saying that you'd never find this sort of thing at Goldbrick Jewels! |

Lisa's Substitute: Season 2, Episode 19 Sure! Can I wear your jewellery? Sure!" A top contender for classic Simpsons episode, and probably one that's most likely to make us cry. These scene shows Lisa excitedly talking to Marge about plans for her favourite substitute teacher to come around for dinner. Asking Marge if she can borrow her jewellery highlights the importance of jewellery as part of one's identity and sense of self, and also highlights the idea of jewellery being family heirlooms. |

Lisa's Wedding: Season 6, Episode 19 This episode goes into the future (1 August 2010...eeek!) to give us a look at Lisa's wedding, with this easy-to-miss reference to antique jewellery. Brooches are surprisingly versatile (we love using and selling them as chain extenders!) and come in so many gorgeous shapes, sizes and materials. Here's a lovely one we sold in 14ct gold with rubies, and 9ct gold with turquoise. |
Simpson Safari: Season 12, Episode 17 In this episode, Dr. Joan Bushwell (a parody of Jane Goodall) has her secret exposed and offers the family diamonds as a bribe. Spoiler alert: everyone except Lisa is happy to accept that bribe - the sparkle and shine of loose diamonds really got to them! |

Honourable mention Lucius Sweet (boxing manager) is one of the most blingin' characters we've seen on the show, with loads of gold chains, rings, bracelets and even a crown at one stage! |
Honourable mention A classic Mr Burns gag, and we love that we can spot what looks like a giant old cut ruby at the front there! |
Honourable mention The Stonecutters' ring absolutely captured our imaginations as kids (and as adults, let's be real) - a cool signet ring for membership that unlocks perks like vending machine goodies and priority parking? Sign us up! We love signet rings - check out our available ones here. |

What we love most about these moments in The Simpsons is how naturally jewellery shows up in the story. It’s something emotional, symbolic, and deeply human - even in a cartoon universe. Whether it’s played for laughs or meaning, it reflects the same reasons people have worn and treasured jewellery for centuries.
